I really enjoy photographing high school seniors. Young men and women have fun posing for their portrait. That enthusiasm often translates into a final image that looks fun and well done.
But – not everyone is like that in front of the camera. As a photographer you hope to understand the reasons for someone having reservations about their portrait. Talking with the subject about their issues gives you an opportunity to find the “work-arounds”. Then take what you’ve learned about that person and go to work. If you’ve listened and taken their concerns to heart, you should be able to produce good results.
